 Freshman Commuter Students

If a student has a parent or guardian living within 70 minutes of the University, they can be granted a housing exemption and can live at home their freshman year. Every year, between 450 - 500 freshmen live at home.

ConnectU

August 20, 2017 from 2 - 5 p.m.

This FREE event is designed to help freshman commuters become more acclimated to campus, meet other commuter students, and to become more comfortable with the University of Arkansas. Students will leave this event will all questions about the upcoming semester answered! Attendees will be taken on a personalized campus tour of where their classes are, get to know other students, and ask questions anonymously. Snacks and drinks will be provided and attendees can then head to New Student Welcome and Burger Bash immediately after this event. Register below by August 16.

 

 

Freshman Success Mentors

Fall 2017 Semester

Freshman Success mentors partners small groups of freshman commuters with an upperclassman mentor to assist with a student's fall semester through email, text, phone, and face-to-face communication about campus events and resources, as well as provides weekly check-ins and personal support. This program takes into account the busy schedules of commuter students, so only a few in-person meetings between mentor and mentee are required. Freshmen who complete all required aspects of this program will receive $100 in Dining Dollars to use at campus dining locations and $100 to the University Bookstore for the Spring 2018 semester. Registration is limited to 30 participants, so apply today! Deadline to apply is August 18.
